Our Lodge
Daily Life - The Lodge

In 1846, Chi Psi built the very first fraternity house in the nation at the University of Michigan and called it, “The Lodge”.

Ever since, Chi Psi’s have called their fraternity houses, “Lodges”. As befits the fraternity that built the very first fraternity house, we have taken great pride in our Lodges ever since. Chi Psi is often credited with having the finest fraternity house ever built in America – the Chi Psi Lodge at Cornell University.

The Chi Psi Lodge at the University of Washington, built in 1924, is an architecturally significant building. The undergraduates and alumni of Chi Psi take care to retain its historical appeal, while modernizing to meet present demands. In recent years, we have completely upgraded the kitchen, the bathrooms, the library and conference rooms, the electrical and plumbing systems, and installed a state-of-the-art electronic key card entry system. Currently we are preparing to replace the boiler.

The Alumni Corporation Board meets regularly with the undergraduate leadership to discuss any needed repairs and also to plan for future improvements. The undergraduate officers are thus able to acquire real-world experience in planning, budgeting, and executing a major project.
