Safety
Daily Life - The Lodge

Chi Psi Fraternity takes the safety of our members and guests very seriously. We are the first fraternity at the University of Washington to undergo a comprehensive Building Safety Audit.

This Safety Audit was performed by a risk management consultant approved by our insurance company, and we have completed or are in process of completing all the items identified in the report.

The largest item in the report was the recommendation to replace the windows in the second and third floor rooms, to prevent accidental falls from these windows. We worked extensively with local window companies and Seattle Fire Department to achieve a window design that meets current fire codes (for fire egress and ingress for a fireman with tanks), while also preventing accidental falls outward. The new windows were installed in May 2009.

The Chi Psi Lodge has smoke alarms and a fire sprinkler system that meet current fire codes. These systems are regularly inspected by Simplex/Grinnell (our vendor) and the Seattle Fire Department. We are proud of our attention to detail when it comes to safety.
