| No Hazing |
| Rush - Rush Values |

There is absolutely no hazing at Chi Psi. You cannot respect someone who has hazed you. An often sited excuse for hazing is that it bonds a pledge class together. At Chi Psi, we build bonds across the entire membership. One exemplary aspect of Chi Psi is the large number of brothers who have close friendships across multiple pledge classes. This is one of our greatest strengths and is completely antithetical to hazing.
Pledges play a central role in Chi Psi’s daily life. Pledges at Chi Psi contribute their voices to the daily governance of the Lodge; participate in all the activities; and leave a lasting legacy of their pledge class through the pledge class project. Another excuse for hazing is the misguided notion that hazing somehow enhances the initiation experience. Initiation is the single most important activity we conduct and we would never diminish its importance to us by hazing. We have a saying at Chi Psi, that the initiation ceremony should be conducted in such a manner that the president of the university could be initiated with dignity. Alumni are present at every initiation and we live up to that standard. |
